Meet the team behind A Guide to Vegan and Fussy Vegan!
A Guide to Vegan is New Zealand's go-to-guide of all things vegan; a trusted place where anyone can choose kinder. Now, a Guide to Vegan, has partnered with Fussy Vegan, the creators of Fussy Vegan Pro, Australia's #1 vegan app.
Together, we bring you the most comprehensive vegan guide, filled with thousands of local products, cafes, and restaurants - updated regularly to keep you informed. The app is already packed with NZ content, and this is just the start! With our partnership, even more NZ options will be added on an ongoing basis.
Fussy Vegan
Fussy Vegan was founded in 2017 and launched their first app the same year. Fussy Vegan strongly believe that all animals have a fundamental right to exist and should not be exploited by humans for any reason. Their mission is to assist those that are following or are considering following a vegan lifestyle by providing accurate and reliable information as to whether a product or business is vegan or not.
A Guide to Vegan
Launched in 2016, A Guide to Vegan was created in response to the growing demand from people across New Zealand seeking advice on vegan-friendly products. Knowing how easy it can be to live vegan; we wanted to show others just how accessible it is. Built on a simple idea - when vegan kai is easy to find, more animals can be saved - we’re here to make compassionate choices effortless for everyone.

Since 2022, Fussy Vegan has been contracted by Vegan Australia to manage the operations of the Vegan Australia Certified program. Luxor Goldstein
Assistant & Loyal Cheerleader
Luxor is a former victim of the Greyhound racing industry. He was injured in training and was not able to race, making him useless to the trainers that raised him. Luckily for Luxor, he was one of the small percentage of Greyhounds that get put into the Greyhound Adoption Program. Even then, he had been in the adoption program for so long that he was not far off being put down before Ken adopted him. Luxor inspires Ken to continue the work to make the world free from animal use and abuse.
Tara Jackson (she/her)
Founder & Director of A Guide to Vegan
Tara is an expert in cruelty-free science advocacy, with nearly a decade spent at the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society (NZAVS), a charity dedicated to ending animal experimentation in NZ. There, she led impactful change advancing both animal welfare and scientific progress. In August 2024, she stepped down as Executive Director to launch a new venture for animals - more on that soon! Her passion extends beyond ending animal experimentation to ending animal exploitation entirely, which inspired her to found A Guide to Vegan. Vegan since 2013 (and vegetarian for many years prior), Tara is driven by a vision of a kinder, more compassionate world for animals.

Oxana Jackson
Assistant & Loyal Cheerleader
Oxana, a Red Nose American Pit Bull Terrier, began her journey at a council pound. Now, she spends her days snuggled up with her workaholic mum, keeping her warm and reminding her to take breaks.
